Durga Shatchandi Puja is connected with the traditional worship of Maa Durga described in the Devi Mahatmya, which forms part of the Markandeya Purana. The sacred text describes the Goddess’s victory over powerful negative forces, including Mahishasura, Shumbha and Nishumbha.
The stories of Maa Durga are traditionally understood as a representation of the victory of dharma over adharma and are associated with qualities such as courage, devotion, and spiritual strength.
In Hindu tradition, Maa Durga represents Shakti, the divine feminine power. Shatchandi worship is performed with devotion, discipline, and prayer while seeking the Goddess’s blessings during important spiritual occasions or challenging periods.
Devotees traditionally associate this worship with courage, inner strength, protection, and spiritual focus. These are matters of religious belief and devotional practice rather than guaranteed outcomes.
